As Director of Legal Services, Ben Tisdel works across multiple Aries Clean Technologies teams with a mission to streamline the use of outside counsel and provides the first point of contact for Aries documentation and contracting. He also serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors. He brings to the team a depth of experience in government and permitting processes, paired with a strong legal background in intellectual property, real property, and taxation.
His prior work in local government focused on climate change resiliency and economic development. Careful sequencing and timing of projects (and successful navigation between competing interest groups) resulted in new regional and statewide solutions in Colorado for wildfire mitigation regulations; regional broadband networks; land use regulations to protect high alpine lands from excessive development; and protections for treasured outdoor recreational assets.
He has served on multiple national and statewide commissions and boards, including the National Counties Association’s Energy, Environment and Land Use committee; the Colorado Fire Commission; the Colorado Forest Health Council; the Colorado Emergency Fire Fund Committee; the Colorado Broadband Deployment Board; and the Colorado Homeland Security Advisory Council.
Ben earned a Law degree (University of Sydney) and an International Economics degree (Georgetown University). He has worked in intellectual property and tax litigation and as a consultant at a solar technology startup.
Along the way, he has become truly passionate about winter recreation, logging up to 80 days of cross-country skiing each year with his amazing dog Mavis.
Ben is excited and energized to serve Aries Clean Technologies as its Director of Legal Services where he can leverage his skills and passions to further address climate change resiliency, with a particular focus on energy innovation.
