Martha Crawford is an experienced board director, advisor, and operating partner with over 30 years of expertise in energy decarbonization, materials recovery, and environmental services. She currently serves as an Operating Partner with Macquarie Asset Management and advises private equity groups investing in environmental infrastructure and low-carbon energy solutions.
Martha has a strong track record in scaling and commercializing low-carbon technologies, including hydrogen, biofuels, and carbon capture, to modernize heavy industries and drive sustainability. She serves as an independent board director and sustainability committee chair for infrastructure companies in the environmental services and low-carbon energy sectors.
Previously based in Paris for nearly two decades, Martha led global R&D and product development operations for French multinational corporations in the energy and chemicals industries. As Chief Technology Officer at Areva (now Orano) and Air Liquide, she directed international research efforts on hydrogen production, carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), offshore wind and solar energy optimization, and advanced sustainable fuel production processes.
After returning to the U.S. in 2016, Martha taught at Harvard Business School, where she developed and led courses on business ethics, board governance, corporate responsibility, and energy market transformation.
Martha holds an MS and PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Harvard University, where she was a National Science Foundation Fellow. She also earned an MBA from the French College des Ingénieurs and an Executive Certificate in Private Equity and Venture Capital from Columbia Business School. A dual U.S.-French national, she is fluent in English and French and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
